Commissioner for Pereira Affairs.
British Consu late,
Swat oa,
August 8, 1925.
189
sir,
It is reported to me that early this morning, between 1 and
2 o'clock, a large band of men, apparently robbers, with painted
faces and wearing masks, broke into the house of Mr. Teo Yee
Swee, east of the Standard 011 Company.
I have not yet been able to learn all the details of this
case, but I understand that the robbers ransacked the house
and stole many articles of value.
I am informed, though the news seems hardly ma credible,
that the police, instead of arresting the robbers have arrested
Mr. Teo Yee Swee and some of his servants, who are now detained
at the Central Police Station, the police having taken possession
of his honsa,
I have the honour to request that you will telephone to
the Central Police Station to order the immediate release of
Hr. Teo Yee Swee and that a careful enquiry may be made into
this extraordinary case without delay.
(Signed)
I have etc.
Geoil Kirke.
Consul.
